Our Approach
Named after a tree that takes its time.
The bur oak is the Midwest's patient tree — deep-rooted, drought-stubborn, built for exactly this ground. That's the standard we plant to. We reach for natives and regionally proven plants first, because a landscape that belongs here doesn't fight the climate; it settles in and gets better every year.
And we stay a one-crew shop on purpose. The designer who walks your yard is the foreman who builds it, with the same insured, local crew from the first stake to the last bag of mulch. No subcontractor roulette, no “that's the other guy's work.” After about fourteen years in the Northland, we've learned that's the only way the beds, the stone, and the lawn end up telling the same story.

When should I book a spring project?
February, honestly. Our spring installation calendar usually fills by early March, and cleanups stack up right behind it. Call in winter and you'll get the week you actually want — call in April and we'll be honest about what's left.
Is the quote really free?
Yes. We walk the property with you, talk through what the yard needs (and what it doesn't), and you get a written number before any work starts. No pressure follow-up calls — the yard will still be there when you're ready.
Do you subcontract any of the work?
No. Design, planting, hardscape, and cleanup are all done by the same Bur Oak crew, under the same foreman, start to finish. It's why the beds and the patio actually look like they were planned together — they were.
What's in a lawn care program?
Mowing on a set schedule plus seasonal treatments timed to how lawns actually grow here — feeding in spring and fall, and summer care that respects the heat. We'll tell you plainly which visits your lawn needs and which it doesn't.
How far do you travel?
We work the Northland: Liberty, Gladstone, Kearney, Smithville, and the Kansas City neighborhoods north of the river. On the edge of that? Ask — if we can't get to you efficiently, we'll say so instead of padding the price.
